Curriculum Vitae

Education:

  • July 1996- July 2000:  Mphil/PhD at Environmental Change Research Centre (ECRC), University College London (UCL).
  • Sept. 1993 – Sept.  94: “Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies (D.E.A.)”  = Master Thesis – Freshwater ecology and  Palaeoecology. University Aix-Marseille 3.
  • Sept. 1992 – June 93: “Maîtrise” in Biology of Organisms and Populations, University Grenoble I
  • Skills:

I am specialized in palaeolimnology, using lake sediment records to reconstruct past environmental and climate changes in Eurasia during the Late Quaternary. I use fossil diatoms, which are unicellular algae with a siliceous shell that are generally abundant and well preserved in lake sediments, as a proxy parameter.

    Professional experience:

  • March 2004 to present: Employed by the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, with the title of Guest Professor.
  • January 2001 to February 2004: Postdoctoral Research fellow at the ECRC. Palaeoclimate record from Lake Baikal (European Union project CONTINENT)
  • July 1999-November 1999: Employed as Research fellow by the Department of Geography, University College London, Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) contract.
  • Sept 1994 - May 1996: Employed by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS, Arles): Analysis of plant production and sedimentation rate (contract European Communities MEDDELT).

  • Association Française de Limnologie (since 1996)
  • International Society for Diatom Research (since 2001)
  • Quaternary Research Association (since 2002)
  • Honours:

Appointed Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Geography of University College London (UK) for the period 2004-2010.
